A Real Place, Not a Resort
Brunswick was laid out in 1771 on the same kind of square-and-grid plan Oglethorpe used in Savannah, and Old Town still wears it well — tree-shaded squares, historic homes, and a downtown you can walk. Down at the water, Mary Ross Waterfront Park and the shrimp docks are a reminder that this has always been a working coast.
You've got Lover's Oak, said to be centuries old; the Marshes of Glynn that Sidney Lanier made famous; and the Sidney Lanier Bridge lit gold at sunset. And you're only minutes from St. Simons, Jekyll, and Sea Island — close enough for a beach evening, far enough to keep island prices at arm's length.
